We’re guessing that you guys saw our livestream from Hurricane Isaias, but if you didn’t, boy was it REALLY WILD and then, very abruptly…over. Isaias was VERY strong when it landed, but the shear really ripped it apart quickly.

BUT NOT BEFORE WE GOT A HUGE SCIENCE WIN! We launched a balloon inside the eye of Isaias and it rode the sting jet at over 100 mph and reached temperatures of below 100 degrees. You can inspect it all at www.domlabs.io.

Of course, in the grand context of history, this hurricane year is exceptionally quiet. How much so, you ask?

ACE stands for Accumulated Cyclone Energy, a measurement of how much energy tropical storms and hurricanes generate throughout the season. It combines how strong storms are and how long they last, giving us a better picture of overall hurricane activity than simply counting storms.
